Tennis clubs, hotels and rec centers have started converting tennis courts into pickleball court. What you need to know if your plan is to convert your tennis courts into pickleball courts.

Pickleball and Tennis Service Areas Are Similar

Tennis and pickleball both have close-to-the-net service areas, which allow players to serve straight to their opponents, whether they are playing singles or doubles. In pickleball, service lines are closer than in tennis.

There are also a number of other similarities between the two sports. The service boxes are also similar in both games. Both games require a racquet, a ball, and a surface slightly textured.

How to Convert Tennis Court into Pickleball Court

Marking the line is the first step to converting your tennis court to a pickleball area. To accurately measure where to place the markings, you'll need a measuring tape.

Once you've done this, you should be able to place the line markers on the court without much trouble. If necessary, you can easily adjust the line markers.

Next, align the net of the court with the centerlines. It's a quick process and shouldn't last more than 15 minute per side.

Use the same type markers as you would for tennis to mark the pickleball court. You'll place one marker on each corner at the baseline. Another will be placed on the non volley line where it meets with the sideline.

You'll then need to place a mark on both sides of the tennis court where the centerline meets the pickleball lines. You should do this on both sides of the tennis court so that you'll have a consistent pickleball court.

If you'd rather not use permanent markers, tape and chalk can be used to make temporary marks. Just make sure that you're using strong tape to stick to the tennis court surface.

Add permanent markings to your tennis court if you want to turn it into a Pickleball game. We recommend that you consult the local governing body of the sport if you are unsure how to proceed. This will allow you to decide on the best course of action for your facility.
